Dr. Mayer, DVM

Medical Director

Dr. Kimberly Mayer was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs of Illinois. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Sciences from the University of Illinois in 2005 and went on to graduate from the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Illinois in 2010. After graduation, Dr. Mayer joined the staff at River Heights Animal Hospital in Oswego, Illinois, where she served as an associate veterinarian for over a decade. In 2024, Dr. Mayer made the significant decision to relocate to Colorado, bringing her extensive experience and compassionate care to the Animal Medical Center of Woodland Park in June of that year.

Dr. Mayer has a profound interest in surgery, dentistry, internal medicine, and preventative care. She takes great pride in positively impacting the lives of animals and their owners, establishing strong, caring relationships with her patients and their families. Although it was a challenging decision to leave her close-knit community in Illinois, Dr. Mayer is excited about the opportunities in Colorado.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Mayer enjoys spending quality time with her husband, daughter, and son, exploring the beautiful outdoors of Colorado. Her favorite activities include hiking, boating, and rafting. She is also an animal lover at home, sharing her life with a Bernese Mountain Dog named Monty and two cats, Munchkin and Princeton.
